I am a Christian. I develop software for Amazon.com. I also sometimes do theater in various capacities, write now and then, and I enjoy some undefinable essence that can often be found in fantasy.

Like Lightning

This article is... original. But they say it's real, too. Amazing how creative real life can be on occasion.

[edit] Looks like the link above is broken. Here's another one: "Aussie's jacket provides a jolt"

Gryphons

My first introduction to gryphons was in a game called Warlords. However, I didn't take an interest in them until I read "The Black Gryphon" by Mercedes Lackey. Her descriptions of gryphons and their habits have probably played an unbalanced role in forming my current idea of what a gryphon is. However, I just stumbled upon a site which seems to have a much broader discussion of what gryphons are, where they come from, and what they're like: http://www.gryphonpages.com/legend/legend.htm Take a look at it!

Folksongs

For my general midieval acculturation, I think I need to read more folksongs. Once I do, the link below will be even more amusing!

Dress Your Children Properly

I don't know if this is true, but I think it's quite funny:

"Britain's George V, for example, thought the only suitable children's attire were sailor suits and kilts."

Advocacy

Here is something I found while I was trying to find something else, and should perhaps have been doing homework instead. I found it very amusing. It might even be fun to play! But whether or not it's a fun game, the description is hilarious.

Classes have begun

Since I last posted, I've moved into the dorm and settled in. Classes started today. Turns out my technical communications teacher has a good, if cynical sense of humor, and has a clear sense of mission and purpose in teaching the class. My Signals and Systems prof also seemed to be doing a good job. Unfortunately, I hung out talking with my technical communications teacher after class, trying to learn more about why some curriculum requirements are as messed up as they are, and then got to my math discussion just barely on time. I didn't really think there would even be any discussion, since it's the first day of class, but... I was wrong, and the guy was already talking when I got in.

Life has been pretty busy, but I'm getting more involved in my church's ministry, which rocks, and I'm having good conversations with me roommate too. I haven't been able to do everything I'd like to, but God willing, I'll fit it in somewhere. :-)
